New York Car Bomb Attempt Possible Terrorist Attack On U.S.

A New York car bomb attempt on Saturday night caused thousands of tourists and residents to evacuate Time Square.

The New York Times reported that “A crude car bomb of propane, gasoline and fireworks was discovered in a smoking Nissan Pathfinder in the heart of Times Square on Saturday evening. ”

Around 6:45pm on Saturday, street vendor Duane Jackson noticed a smoke filled car that was abandoned right off Broadway on 45th street. Shortly after calling the police they evacuated theaters, stores and the New York Marriott Hotel. Authorities were able to successfully detonate the bomb without it causing any causalities

The story of the New York car bomb attempt continued to unfold all day Sunday as to what  happened  in Time Square on Saturday night.

Early Sunday morning Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg who was at a White House dinner, flew back to New York in which he gave a press conference at 2:30am on the details regarding the car bomb attempted.

Bloomberg informed the public that the v.i. n number from the abandoned dark pathfinder is being ran and the pathfinder has been towed to a forensic faculty in Jamaica Queens where the FBI is doing a full investigation on the vehicle.

Various news sources like New York Times, CBS News, CNN and the Huffingtonpost kept a steady eye on the story as officials released more information throughout the day.

As the news outlets scrambled to break the news of the New York car bomb attempt, thousands of tweets flew up on Twitter saying various things from the the Taliban being responsible for the failed bomb attempt to  authorities having a video of a white male suspect.

President Obama was also on top of the NYC car bomb attempt, he commended authorities on detonating the bomb and responding quickly to the attempt.

As of now authorities are viewing surveillance tapes that show a white male suspect standing in Shubert Alley looking in the direction of West 45th Street.

Al Qaeda has threatened to bomb the World Cup game between the United States and England. The game between the two teams will take place on June 12 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg, South Africa.

The stadium holds up to 42,000 people and is very likely to be sold out as people have been awaiting the match up between England and the U.S.
