Co-hosting the Chef Cliff Rome Show “Food and Entertainment” on WVON has afforded me many opportunities and I have learned to capitalize on the opportunities when they present themselves.

This past Thursday, Dr. Ian Smith medical expert from VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club did a phone interview on our show.

Meeting Dr. Ian Smith was a pleasure and was great exposure for myself because I want to be a health reporter and not to mention I knew our listeners could benefit from his expertise.

Listen as he gives Chicago listeners great advice about health, eating right and living a happy life.

Twitter was the first know to that Dr. Smith would be on the show and I was hoping that users would call in as I tweeted throughout the interview.

I learned that Dr. Ian Smith lives in Chicago and worked closely with State Farm Insurance to launch the 50 Million Pound Challenge. Dr. Smith shared achievable tips, strategies for dieting and insisted that loosing weight should not be a short term goal. Loosing weight should not be attempted to do so in a week or month but gradually done.

This past April Dr. Ian Smith released his seventh book entitled “Happy: Simple Steps to Get the Most Out of Life” which is on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Some actors cannot find paying gigs or even find steady work, but then it seems like a slap in the face when big name celebrities like Charlie Sheen fight over salary increases.

Much controversy is being stirred up about whether or not Charlie Sheen will be staying on board the hit TV sitcom “Two and Half-Men”, in which Sheen co-stars.

Sunday morning BBC World (@bbcworld) posted the tweet “Actor Charlie Sheen says his hit sitcom “Two and a Half Men” could end after its current run.” http://bit.ly/9oMOjU.

Should fans be lead to believe, Sheen will walk if his salary demands are not meet?

Sunday afternoon People Magazine (@peoplemag) tweeted “Tonight’s taping may be Charlie Sheen’s last on “Two & a Half Men”. Are you a fan of the show? http://ow.ly/1wzaV

Sheen released a statement to People Magazine addressing the rumor.

“Both parties have known the score for over a year. In no way, has this been a hasty or negligent eleventh hour surprise. I offer this information out of love and respect to my crew, my on-set family, my writers, executive staff, as well as my real family, my dear friends and my loyal fans. We tape the final episode of the season this evening.

“If tonight’s show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude. I remain humbly inspired. – C. Sheen”

On Sunday, various media outlets buzzed about the possibility of Sheen’s either leaving or staying with the show. Some wrote he is at the top of his career, while others continued to report that Sheen will leave if he does not get paid a million dollars per episode which is rumored to be the decision if he stays or walks.

The show is set to wrap its seventh season a week from Sunday.

Sunday evening Trendific (@trendific) posted a tweet saying “Latest: Charlie Sheen may return to ‘Two and a Half Men’ http://bit.ly/9KqbOc

As of right now Sheen has met all requirements of this season contract and  his offer was made a year ago to CBS in regards to his contract. The final decision will apparently come from CBS.

While 1990s Latino pop sensation Ricky Martin’s coming out of the closet confession surprised very few, the way he did it shocked many.

Instead of seeking publications such as People or Time to feature his self-discovering journey through a 3-page spread and cover-shot, Martin posted it on his very own Website, directing fans via Twitter. He wrote, “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”
