The second part of the reunion of  The Real Housewives of New York City hashed out even more drama than any previous season reunion.  Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Bensimonwere at necks with each other over what was said or done on “Scary Island”. 

 Bensimon’s shared her viewpoint of “Scary Island” as a result of what she called systematic bullying.

While everyone on the show was telling Bensimon that she had a breakdown, she insisted that it was a breakthrough and that it was all a result of the four women ganging up on her and bullying her. This enraged the women, however Bensimon was insistent.

 Bensimon also acknowledged that she did not want to go on the trip, but that Bravo forced her to do so. The host of the show Andy said that was untrue. The dialogue went as follows:

Kelly: I was forced by Bravo to go on the trip.

Andy: That’s not true. But I appreciate it.

Kelly: It’s true. Everybody knows that.

Andy: That’s not true.

Kelly: Andy. It’s true though but thank you, I appreciate it.

The Chicago Blackhawks were guests on ”The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno Monday night and were even written into the script to not only showcase the Stanley Cup, but also the four Olympic medals players on the team had earned at the Vancouver Winter Games.

While the rest of the team stayed in the audience, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Jonathan Toews talked about their big win while wearing their Olympic medals.

“It’s a great feeling to bring the cup back to Chicago,” Kane told Leno.

After two defeats in Philly at the Wachovia Center, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville decided to split up his power line string, intermixing first, second, and third line players to mix it up against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Starters of the first line: Toews, Kane, and Byfuglien aka ‘Big Buff’, were split into different lines to switch up the game strategy. Coach Quenneville wanted to switch up the lines after the Blackhawks poor performances in both Games 3 and 4 in Philly.

The line change turned out to be incredibly powerful in Game 5 at the United Center as six Blackhawks’ players scored earning them a 3-2 lead and the best performance of the series.

Jumping to a 3-0 lead in the first period Quenneville commented, “I thought we had good energy right from the outset. Great pace. Had speed on all the lines. I think there was some balance as far as offensive ability, reliability defensively. Kept that pace from start to finish.”

The top line of Toews centered between Marian Hossa and Tomas Kopeck opened the game to generate scoring opportunities as well as pressure from the onset against the Flyers. Of the three, only Toews had a point (an assist on a power play), but together combined the top line had 13 shots on goal.

Kane spent the night on the second line along with Patrick Sharp and Andrew Ladd who clicked from the outset. Kane and Sharp had a goal and an assist and Ladd assisted on Kane’s goal that put Chicago ahead 4-1 early in the second period.

Everybody has chemistry with everybody on this team. Pronger offered a different assessment, “I don’t know if the changes mattered all that much. We didn’t do a very good job in the neutral zone. Flyers Slacking

Some Blackhawks found out about their new linemates during the morning practice while others had no idea who they were going to have on their line until right before game time. Regardless of when the news was delivered, it was a much-needed change that the players were not bitter about.

As Jonathan Toews put it, “The line changes obviously looked like a good thing. But the number one thing was the way we played as a team. We all understand in our locker room it doesn’t matter who you are playing with. You have to go out there and make a difference.”

Over $10 million has been spent on campaigning. Some feel the resources spent and the attack ads will only do damade to the winner’s chances in the general election. Republican  Congressman John Boozman currently leads in polling over either winner. Republican Chair Michael Steele thought the “intraparty civil war” would only help Boozman.

Some Republicans are again trying a strategy, much like the famous “Operation Chaos” in the 2008 Presidential Primary,  and are making no bones about trying to rig the race in their favor.

However, even if the Progressive candidate were to unseat the incumbent, the message it would send may still be murky.

Is it a signal that voters are displaying their anger at Washington party politics and voting for anti-establishment candidates? Keep in mind that Halter is the Lt. Governor of Arkansas, which isn’t exactly a huge leap. Rand Paul on the other hand, despite having little to no political experience to boost his anti-establishment credentials, in all likelihood benefited from patronage. The Rands could just as easily be the Tea Party’s answer to the Kennedys.

Is it that voters are becoming less interested in moderate ideals or is it that it is simply easier to generate more of a buzz around idealism than it is around moderation and compromise?

As the evening progressed it proved to be a pretty close race. With about 50% of precincts reporting it was well within the margin of error.

At the end of the day, the forces of incumbency and powerful friends in current President Obama and former President Bill Clinton were too much for Halter to overcome. Blanche Lincoln won with 52% of the vote.

Lincoln was moved further to the left on financial reform by Halter’s campaign and now claims she “gets” why there was an anti-incumbent surge.

Appearing as the perfect Washington couple with a 40-year long marriage since being high school sweethearts, Al Gore and Tipper Gore have decided to call it quits.

“After a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate,” the Gores wrote in an e-mail to friends on June 1st. “This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together.” Gore spokeswomen Kalee Kreider confirmed the statement came from the Gores, but declined to comment further.

Many children of the baby boomer generation feel much differently about divorce after so many years together. After studying children growing up with divorce or gender-line blurs, Kathleen Gerson found that 95 percent of both women and men (including gays and lesbians) hope to create a collaborative, mutually supportive relationship that stands the test of time.

Umpire Jim Joyce admitted in tears that he blew the first base call that would have given Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarrage the perfect game. The call was ruled an error call after review.

After review from baseball’s commissioner, Bud Selig, it has been finally decided that Galarraga’s perfect game will be listed in the record book but with an Asterisk.

The error call has been the talk of the week. Even the White House press secretary Robert Gibbs commented on the perfect game.

Many have expressed concern that instant replay should have a role in baseball umpiring. Instant replay is already used in the NFL, NHL, and the NBA, so why not put it to use in the MBL for calls that may be too close for the human eye to catch.

Many feel that instant replay could be utilized as a tool for the MBL to use for close calls. Although others feel it may take away from the game as baseball is already a long sporting event in the first place.

Authorities in Santiago, Chile detained Joran van der Sloot as the prime suspect in the killing of a 21-year-old Peruvian women, Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez. She was found dead Wednesday morning in a Lima hotel room registered under van der Sloot’s name, according to ABC news.

Authorities believe van der Sloot escaped Peru via bus into Chile just a few hours after police accused him of the murder. Van Der Sloot is primarily known for being the main suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, May 2005.

Authorities in Chile confirmed that van de Sloot had entered the country Monday with no record of him leaving. Police had been searching hotels and homes throughout northern Chile before detaining him in Santiago. The Dutch government said Interpol had issued an international warrant for van der Sloot’s arrest.

Peruvian police General, Cesar Guardia said in a conference that van der Sloot was in Peru for a poker tournament. Van der Sloot and Flores were spotted in a video taken at a Lima casino early Sunday morning and one of the hotel employees reported seeing the two together entering the hotal around 5:00am. Van der Sloot departed the hotel solo four hours later.

Peruvian authorities found Flores lying face down, fully clothed on the hotel room floor. Police said she had been beaten and stabbed.

Stephany Flores’ is believe to have been murdered exactly 5 years after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba on May 30, 2005.The Huffington post reported that a spokeswoman for Holloway’s  family told the Associated Press that the family was aware of the development in Peru but would have no comment.

Many believe Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez murder could have been avoided had Joran van der Sloot been arrested 5 years ago for Natalee Holloway. As many believed before that he had gotten away with murder (even confessed on tape to it), van der Sloot may now be out of  ‘get out of jail free’ cards.

The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in a nail biting overtime losing the chance to sweep the Flyers for the Stanley Cup.

After the recalled Flyer’s goal, the Blackhawks still had hope to win Game 3. Then David Bolland lost a neutral zone  face-off giving the Flyers possession of the puck during a premature line change by the Blackhawks giving the Flyers an odd man rush to the goal.

With Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews caught in an unfortunate line change, the Flyers had a five on three penetration advantage allowing Matt Carle to feed Claude Giroux a puck to the net.

The Flyers also out shot (32 – 27) and out hit (40-31) the Blackhawks which led to their first win of the series that will continue Friday in Philly for Game 4.

Although many Blackhawk fans were hoping to sweep the series, fans will now have the opportunity to win the Stanley Cup at home. Sweeping the Stanley Cup in four games has only happned 20 times since 1940.
