The Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in a nail biting overtime losing the chance to sweep the Flyers for the Stanley Cup.

After the recalled Flyer’s goal, the Blackhawks still had hope to win Game 3. Then David Bolland lost a neutral zone  face-off giving the Flyers possession of the puck during a premature line change by the Blackhawks giving the Flyers an odd man rush to the goal.

With Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews caught in an unfortunate line change, the Flyers had a five on three penetration advantage allowing Matt Carle to feed Claude Giroux a puck to the net.

With the ‘Titanic’ horn howling, the Flyers celebrated their first win of the series. The Wachovia Center tweeted:

Wachovia_Center Blackhawks still haven’t won in Philly in 13 years…Patrick Kane was 8 years old at the time.

Michael Leighton, former Blackhawk from Ontario, had 24 saves. Philly scored two power play goals scored by Daniel Briere and Scott Hartnell. Ville Leino scored the third goal for the Flyers in third period to tie the game and send it to overtime.

The Flyers also out shot (32 – 27) and out hit (40-31) the Blackhawks which led to their first win of the series that will continue Friday in Philly for Game 4.

Although many Blackhawk fans were hoping to sweep the series, fans will now have the opportunity to win the Stanley Cup at home. Sweeping the Stanley Cup in four games has only happned 20 times since 1940.

Many are anticipating the Blackhawks Stanley Cup win at home in Game 5:
