After a crushing 5-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks in the series opener, the Chicago Blackhawks face a tough road ahead. ”It can’t get any worse,” Duncan Keith said, according to Chicago Now.

“They’re really good, it seems like they’ve gotten a lot better from last year,” said Patrick Kane to ESPN, adding, “The biggest thing against this team, they’re so good offensively, you have to hang on to the puck and play a puck-possession game and keep it away from their big guns and try and keep it in their end as much as possible. I know it’s easier said than done.”
ManInBlackERP Blackhawks were out-hustled, out-muscled, out-coached, and out-classed by Vancouver in Game 1.The city of Chicago deserves better than this. JDHubb Blackhawks, the only chicago team left in the playoffs this spring, gotta step it up! Never thought I’d be going for the celtics either… TheHockeyFile #Canucks defeat #Blackhawks 5-1 with a thorough domination. Kane scored the Hawks’ only goal, while goalie Anti Niemi allowed five, before being pulled at the end of the second period.
According to Chicago Breaking Sports, Joel Quenville will continue to play Niemi. “Antti (Niemi’s) playing,” Quenneville said. “No doubt.”
Brian Campbell had similar sentiments about Niemi, saying, “He played great in the first period there, too. He didn’t give up anything that we didn’t give them. I wouldn’t be worried about Antti. I’m not,” according to ESPN.
Cristobal Huet, who last played March 25, replaced Niemi and saved the three shots against him.
The third goalie of the night, Canucks’ Roberto Luongo, saved 36 shots, allowing the Hawks’ only goal during a 5-on-3 in the third.
In an interview with ESPN, Daniel Sedin said, “We know what we have in Roberto,” adding, “He’s going to bring it every night and tonight was his game. Especially in the first period on their power play, he came up big for us.”
jeffrey08 I must admit,as one of Luongo doubters, that last night was one of his best games DPianin96 Great performance from Canucks. Luongo unbeatable. Hawks looked sluggish. Outworked by all 4 lines from Vancouver. Hot & cold all playoffs. nickdelmonte If the Canucks offensive prowess continues to chase opponents goalies out…… and Luongo remains sharp…. Could be an interesting run! tomhall14 @pseudofinn Yes. Yes it was. Only down was the goal they scored. I think Luongo could have done with a shutout. 1’s not bad though

Luongo’s last United Center appearance was a devastating loss in Game 6 of last year’s playoffs, during which he allowed seven goals, ending the team’s trip to the Stanley Cup.
“It took a while to get over,” said Luongo, according to The Province.
Although the Canucks won the game by a landslide, it’s only one win of four needed to move forward.
”That’s the thing about the playoffs — it’s a new game the next game. It doesn’t matter if you won 3-2 or 6-1,” Sedin said to the Chicago Sun-Times. ”We need three more. It’s not going to come easy. They had more points than us in the regular season. That’s a good team. We were lucky on a few goals, but we’ll take it and move on.”
Game 2 will be played Monday at 8PM at the United Center.
