Justin Bieber (@JustinBieber) may be a continuous trending topic on Twitter, but he is not afraid of losing his pop star status in an effort to defend his mom.

Just one day after Bieber had to cancel his Australian concert due to unruly fans, the New York Daily News said that the teen pop sensation landed in New Zealand Tuesday night to an equally wild crowd of 500 screaming fans.

But instead of greeting the 16-year-old with open arms, the New York Daily News said Beiber’s fans were out of control, grabbing the hat off of his head and sending his mother, Pattie Mallette (@Studiomama), sprawling.

“Finally got to New Zealand last night. The airport was crazy. Not happy that someone stole my hat and knocked down my mama. Come on people,” Bieber Tweeted after being escorted away from fans by police.

According to the New York Daily News, Bieber was taken away in a black SUV from the airport after security shut down his autograph session.

“I want to be able to sign and take pics and meet my fans, but if you are all pushing, security won’t let me,” he Tweeted Wednesday. “Let’s keep it safe and have fun.”

While fans were concerned, Mallette let them know via Twitter that she was okay. “Thanks for all ur support!! I’m ok thank you!!! On my way to bungy jumping!!! Whoopeeeee ,” she wrote.

There was a happy ending for Bieber’s hat as well. “Sorry…U cant hold me ransom,” Bieber Tweeted. “I got my hat back. No hugs. No thank u’s. just glad they did the right thing. I don’t condone thievery!!”

Following the New Zealand airport commotion, the New York Daily News said that Bieber let off steam by bungee jumping off the Auckland Harbor Bridge.

“NEW ZEALAND = GREAT SUCCESS (Borat voice),” he Tweeted.

While Bieber continues touring to promote his new album, “My World 2.0,” the Twitter community reacts to his New Zealand experience:
